Class of 1969~50th Reunion
HHS Class of 1969 Celebrates 50 Years!!

Fifty years ago on June 22, 1969, 260 fresh young minds stood on a stage in a small town, and said goodbye to High School. Some were ecstatic and anxious to embrace the next chapter of their book of life…while others cried, fearing that life would never be as happy, as safe as it had been for the last 18 years. Whether we laughed or we cried…we were moving on. And, move on we did…into the turbulence of the 70s where we were challenged like we had never been challenged before and where we ultimately moved ahead and forged our own paths. Little did we know then that life would never be quite as simple as it had been when we were together in the halls of Hornell High.

And…here we are… fifty years later. Perhaps we are a little grayer, a little less flexible, a little more seasoned and a whole lot wiser. We’ve celebrated new jobs, promotions, new homes, weddings, children and grandchildren. We’ve branched out, taken risks, seen beyond our little town. We’ve made new friends, and we’ve lost many of those near and dear to our hearts. But…one thing we all have in common…our roots here in Hornell.

The Class of ’69 will celebrate their 50th on the weekend of June 28th. On Friday afternoon at 4:30, we have scheduled a tour of our Alma Mater for those who would enjoy seeing it again. Following the tour, join us as we get re-acquainted at the Main Place (formerly the Knights of Columbus) on Main Street. You should have received information on this party in the mail, and should make your reservation by May 31. (If you didn’t receive the mailing we sent, please contact one of your committee members or let us know through our face book group…Hornell High School Class of 69.) We’ll gather at 6 pm…spend time reminiscing…listening to music…and just enjoying the memories. (60s attire is optional!!)

On Saturday, we will be one of the classes honored at the Alumni Banquet (again at the Main Place). We are hoping to have a HUGE turnout…so please send in your reservation using the yellow card in the middle of this news journal! Great food, entertainment and more time together…also, one of our own, Mark Landman, will be a featured speaker.

We encourage you to join our face book group for further updates as we approach the weekend. We are excited and can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
